I LOVE originality. There are way too many musicians now in our time that sound too similar, and quite frankly it has brought me to the point where I rarely listen to music anymore. There are too many bands now that sound so similar that music listeners cannot even perceive of who the artist is. I used to have somewhat of a venturous time exploring the world of music to see what is out there; but those days are few if none. Yet I do understand though that there is limited room for new innovative ideas in the music world, regarding chord variations, chord progressions, time signatures and other variables of things contributed to song making and writing. To me, music is just becoming fake and boring……

The only music worth listening to contains originality and more importantly, the ability to improvize. This is the type of music that stimulates me. It gets me going…… it gives me a rush. Genres such as blues and classic rock I believe have so much to offer and contain the elements that I love listening to. These genres show the most emphasis on passion and really bring songs to life. Blues especially turn me on for the 1-4-5 progression leaves so much room for improvization. Here is an example of one of my favorite blues artists Stevie Ray Vaughn, truly putting himself in the spotlight:

Physical Affects of Music

Music affects people in all different ways. We become somber during the classical, we go crazy during the punk rock, and we enjoy our 12 hour long road trip listening to country. Music puts us in very different moods, for we love that feeling inside of us as we concentrate on certain progressions, words, or for that matter even the sounds that are produced.
To me, the music that I relax to gives me a feeling that I cannot describe, for internally I feel as if I am a new me. I feel a massive rush of blood to my head and the music and me become innertwined. I feel as if my body were almost numb. It makes me feel as if I am there while the music is being performed live. I love this.

Music does infact have different purposes for different people. People like listen to music to focus on their studying. Some people, on the other hand, will listen to music to get their mind off of things. All in all, we listen to music to stimulate our minds, to make us think clearer, and to make us think in ways we did not know we could.
Personally, the music that stimulates me the most is anything original, no matter what genre it may be. A common thing that I notice from original music is the performer’s ability to create new sounds, progressions, and their ability to improvize. I will talk later on specific bands that focus on these things. I firmly believe that there are no limitations to where music can lead one to.

This is a blog focused on the feelings and emotions that one feels from listening to music. Music to many may be the realest thing that they have ever felt; more than love, hate, passion, some of the most real things known to man. This will focus on what type of music affects what type of stimulus.
